Water Damage Services Process

The Source that Caused All This Water Damage.

You may have a water line connected to your faucet and it has sprung a leak. Water has quickly made its way to the floor and is now spreading to nearby rooms. The water supply line is the source of this leak. It is important to know where the water is coming from. First thing you will do is shut of the water either at the shutoff valve at the source, outside shutoff valve, or the city shut off valve located usually in your front yard. When you get the water turned off to stop the water from spreading to more areas of the home, you realize this is a bigger problem that you can handle yourself. First thing on you mind is who do I call first.

First call will be a Water Damage Restoration Company like Disaster Services.

Before calling your restoration company, identify the source of the leak and how many rooms are affected. If you do not know the source that is okay, try to at least figure out how many rooms the water made its way into. This will give the restoration company an idea of how many technicians to dispatch. Also let them know if you were successful at turning the water off. If not, the restoration representative will guide you on how to turn the water off or dispatch a plumber if needed.

This info is also going to be needed when it is time to call your insurance. We will get to that a little later.

Examples of the source of the damage:

Sink Faucet Water Supply Line (Burst or Leak) - Located under sink usually inside a cabinet. Can be hot or cold line and most likely will be in a Kitchen, Bathroom, Master Bathroom, Laundry room, or Garage.

Toilet Supply Line (Burst or Leak) - This is the water line coming from the wall connected to the back of the toilet. This will be found in a bathroom. This line can usually be shut off by the shutoff valve connected to the line and located usually directly coming out of the wall.
